Fish Feeder - clock powered

Fish Feeder - clock powered

I had this idea to use a clock mechanism to feed pellet fish food. This has been in use in my house during vacations for a few years and it works great. Hopefully someone else can make use of it too. The spiral attaches where the minute hand would which means that food falls out every 12 hours. I played with the size of the spiral a bit and this one worked best with the size of food our bottom feeders like without any getting stuck. It will dump food 8 times so will need a refill every 4 days. I glued it to a spare aquarium lid that I cut a hole in. I designed it to not need supports, just make sure to flip over the chute. Also note that you'll probably need to file the hole in the middle of the spiral. I left it a bit small so I could get a perfect fit. The clock movement I designed this to fit is TAKANE brand and I purchased it from my local Rockler store: https://www.rockler.com/mini-quartz-movements-choose-face-thickness
