I wanted a more traditional and accurate representations of the Fisher Price Cash Register coins (model #B926A) and was able to use one of the original coins as a starting point. Would love if someone would add the bumps to the inside coin surface. I was already thinking about how to set up a coin-bank for the 3D printer at school and so I asked if she might lend me toy. She gave it to me instead. I got home and found this helpful resource:http://www.thisoldtoy.com/l_fp_set/toy-pages/900-999/926-cashregister.html From here I was able to back calculate exact dimensions for the coins and in Tinkercad was able to make a reasonable facsimile that looked and felt more consistent with the original toy than could be found in the Thingiverse database. I wanted to make sure that the lines were smooth so I elected the three-piece design that would snap together in the end. First prototype came off really well, but wasn't aesthetically perfect so I increased the font slightly, and made the middle notch of the ring much more pronounced. I haven't tried 10 and 5 yet (only built 25 before writing this up) but I think it should all work well. All in all - for all three coins it took about 3 hours to create start to finish, and another 5 hours of printing to get them all into the real-world! Here's the actual machine we have at work!
