I am a mechanical graduate from CMR college of engineering and technology. Currently, I am doing as an intern in skill-lync, and also pursuing my master in automobile design using CATIA-V5 in skill-in. I have one year of experience in automobile design specifically in particular domains like plastic design, seating design, and lighting design. While pursuing my masters I have worked on several components used in an automobile like headlights, taillights, sheet metal components like a hood, door panel, roof, fender, wheel arch, and plastic components like a switch bezel, armrest with all engineering aspect and calculation.I have used a car back panel as an application that is used to clamp.Challenges which I have faced while designing the Production fixtures.1.0 base unit is the first and the part I have designed by considering working height (500-1100mm) and 4 eyebolts are used and I have maintained a plate thickness of 40-50mm as OEM's requirement 2.0 Rough-locators are straight bars that guide the car panel in pins I have used 35mm bend at 60-degree height from bend ranging 65mm-320mm and the width of 19mm-32mm depends on the space constraints3.0 Fixed pin unit - it's is a unit designed to locate the car panel using pins it's has to be two pins one pin must arrest a 4way movement and the second pin must arrest the 2way movement 4.0 Pin retainer is a part that holds the pin in position5.0 Clamp unit is designed to clamp and hold the car panel with NC blocks/mylar/rest using pneumatic clamp cylinders parts used in this clamp unit design are fingers, rest, clamp-arm, and clamp cylinder and I have to consider clamping force (fs) = 48x(sheet thickness)^3 and outreach of the arms6.0 I have used a blade design for a single stroke cylinder for this car panel My main objective was to manufacture my jigs and fixtures using nTopology software which can save time and I can customize my design.Yes, my design can manufacture with other manufacturing technology but if we use an additive manufacturer can reduce time. cost-saving improve efficiency to the production floor, design freedom, and lightweight product. Materials like thermoplastic are used mostly PVA material is suitable for additive manufacturing
