Flanged Coupling

Flanged Coupling

grabcad

A coupling is a device used to connect two shafts together at their ends for the purpose of transmitting power. Couplings do not normally allow disconnection of shafts during operation, however there are torque limiting couplings which can slip or disconnect when some torque limit is exceeded.A flanged coupling is the simplest type of rigid coupling most extensively used.Normally it consists of two cast or steel bosses provided with protective flange plates at one end .The flange plates are drilled with equidistant bolt holes on their faces.Bosses are secure keyed to each end of the shaft by a taper key from inside. Then they are bolted via bolt and nut
