FLashForge Creator Pro X Fan + Cable Chain

thingiverse

This is based on csatti's original cable chain and fan setup for the WanHao Duplicator. I wanted to put this on mine and quickly found out that it wasn't going to work. It may work just fine for those creator folks, but the pro will be a no go. The major problem, the stepper for Y motion is set lower than in the creator and the chain keeps the Y axis from homing (bummer). So, I fired up sketchup and changed it around and presto works great. I then ran into another obstacle. I wanted the wires to be nicely bundled and make it look nice. I had also read that folks were complaining that either their Y stepper bracket was broken or weak so I came up with this contraption. And it works really well. There is a second revised file that inclues a half hole out the other side as well to allow wires to pass freely to the wire loom and down the frame. On mine I didn't put it in and saw that It should be there so I will be uploading both. It wont hurt, its just for looks and wont make the cable have a slight bend. This does Not need any supports nor rafts (however if you prefer you can use rafts( I am printing on a piece of 3/16 glass with kapton and hairspray, this is working perfect for me and I have never had 1 failed print since due to adherence. When it cools, it actually pops loose on its own, if it doesn't and is stubborn or I used too much spray, I tap the object with the end of a putty knife and it pops off)) For the Y bracket I suggest printing as is, using whatever layering suits your needs, I used .27 with 3 shells @ 60% infill. At this size 60% seemed to be so close to being 100% anyways due to the compactness of the object you don't waste the filament and you get the strength needed! This is designed for PLA, but you can use with ABS, Nylon, HIPS, PC Whatever you desire, you may have to make a few adjustments on scale to compensate for shrinkage! I hope you folks like this and make use out of this. I have it on both of my FFCP's and I love it. I will be adding some more to this as time goes by so keep checking back. I plan on adding a "finger" if you will, that will span from the front of the front right corner towards the back right 1/4 of the way as a support to hold the chain up so it wont sag. Other than that this is working as is and I have been using it for close to a month. My one FFCP just had its main board take a dump, so I am down one unit, but as I stated its on both and works great! Not only will it protect the wire, but sure looks a heck of a lot better than tie-wrapped wires forming a loop next to the Y belt where it can rub and potentially rub through and cause a short!!! Enjoy! Any suggestions and or requests feel free to contact me! Thanks. If for some reason this doesn't work for you don't be too harsh, I'm still learning designing for 3d printing, and will more than happily try to make something that will work for you! Print Settings Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: .27 Or whatever blows your whistle Infill: 60% on Y bracket 10 on everything else is good
