Flashforge Dreamer tall spool rod holders (left & right) and long spool rods

thingiverse

This is my final version of tall spool holders and long spool rods. These work with HatchBox, Sainsmart, and 3D Solutech 2.2lb (1kg) spools (and possibly others) on both the left and right side. I made the holes for positioning nubs slightly larger to accomodate slight variance in position on new dreamers. Let me know of any problems. I made my own version of a tall spool rod holder so that I could adapt it to fit the right side (moved forward to avoid the y-axis motor). I also made the rods longer with a long handle that keeps spools with large center holes secure. These are just about as tall and long as I could get without interfering with operation of the printer. I added cylinders to help with large size diameter spool holes and also because the spools sometimes lean towards the build plate. The cylinders have one end bigger that goes towards the build plate to keep the spools from leaning that way. I use the small cylinder for HatchBox spools and the large cylinder for 3D Solutech spools. Instructions I printed the spool rods vertically. I printed the rod holders lying on their front side with external support. Supports were relatively easy to remove using Simplify3D but I have always had trouble with FlashPrint and supports. I used needle nose plyers and a small pocket knife to remove the supports. The large end of the cylinders goes towards the build plate to prevent the spools from leaning towards the build plate. You will need to remove the bottom plate on the dreamer to remove the original spool holders. Be careful not to lose the nuts on the bottom. Then just attach the new spool holders with the same nuts and bolts from the original stand and then put the bottom back on the dreamer.
