Flask Funnel, 65x8mm

This is a small funnel with an outside diameter of 8mm on the small end. This is small enough for use with flasks that have a 3/8" (9.5mm) inside diameter opening. The small end can be tricky to print since it is so small. The following are the settings that worked for me after much experimentation, but your results may vary depending on your printer's print fan(s) effectiveness. Material used: PETG It can be tricky to print with PETG. Typically I print PETG between 235-245C, but in this case I needed to reduce it to 230C. PETG has a higher melt temperature than PLA so it is usually more viscus, hence the higher temperature. It is best to print with a reduced gearing extruder for strength. Also, a large size nozzle will also help keep the plastic flowing at the cooler temperature. However, use a thin layer height to let the plastic cool quickly. I used a 0.2mm layer height. You probably will also want to use Spiral Vase mode in your slicer to avoid layer step or retraction marks. My default print speed setting for this print is 25mm/sec. But additionally I set a minimum layer print time of 7 seconds. This will slow down the print speed dramatically when it prints the 8mm diameter top of the funnel, allowing the plastic to cool and solidify before the next layer is printed. As stated above, I usually print PETG at the higher range of 245C. If your printer has a hard time maintaining this high temperature, you'll need to lower the fan speed to 30% or so. But for this funnel print, I turned the fans all the way to 100%.
