Flatten The Curve pin

Flatten The Curve pin

thingiverse

I designed this pin as a visual reminder for people to engage in responsible behaviors to help "flatten the curve," and as a way to show solidarity for healthcare workers across the country. I'm an 'essential' employee and I plan to wear this to work since I encounter a lot of people over the course of the day, and I hope it reminds them of WHY we're using social distancing, self isolation, and other strategies to slow the spread of the coronavirus. The pin has a flat back, so it's up to you to decide how to attach it to your clothing. I had a bunch of clothing pins on hand that I am able to attach to the back of the pin easily. I also use small pieces of foam to ensure that it doesn't lean too far upwards or downwards. I chose the colors here deliberately to help easily explain the idea to curious people. The blue line represents what the medical system can handle, the red curve shows an overwhelming number of cases happening quickly, and the green curve shows the cases spread out, low enough that the medical system can safely handle the case load. I mixed some cheap paint with water to get it into the text so it can be read easily from a greater distance, then painted over the top with white. I also tried coloring a second pin with markers to try and make it faster. You can judge those results for yourself. These are not for sale. I am distributing this because I hope it sends a message that is important right now. I'm handing them out for free when I can. Don't sell them. Feel free to edit the design as you need to, just please don't sell it.
