Fletcher Capstan Table or Self Expanse Table is a fascinating design. I did a sketchy model with Autodesk Inventor, gave it to students and asked them to design their own table based on the given mechanism. The Inventor assembly model "Fletcher Capstan Table mechanism study .iam" had a contain called " EXPANSE ME" which will cause the table to expanse. The skirt in Fletcher Capstan Table should turn and move down first before the expansion; however, I kept it in one motion just to illustrate the concept only.
