Flexible-Flange Coupling

This type of coupling is used to couple two shafts which are slightly out of line or which requires slightly relative angular movement. In this case, the motion is transmitted from one shaft to the other with the help of driving pins rigidly bolted to one flange and loosely fitted to the corresponding holes in the other flange. Compressible or flexible elements such as rubber, leather etc. are used around the driving pins for prevention of the shocks and vibrations occurring due to power transmission. Flexible coupling is used as a direct coupling device to minimize starting shocks.
