The Flow-i anaesthetic machine by Getinge Group is being modified to make it a viable option as an emergency ventilator. The Bridge component acts as a direct replacement for the OEM Socket, linking the patient Cassette directly to the Volume Reflector within the machine. By bypassing the Volume Reflector, the Bridge compresses the gas pathway through the machine, minimizing the potential for water rainout when utilizing it as a ventilator. Testing indicates that substituting the Bridge for the Socket significantly reduces condensation inside the machine, making it more suitable for emergency use in Intensive Care during the COVID-19 pandemic.
