Flower in White

Flower in White

I wasn't able to name this thing until I started photographing it. It just seemed like I was taking pictures of a flower because it has similar surfaces, yet was all in white. And like a flower, it is interesting to view from many different angles. This was my first design using the "autobots" in Groboto, a different kind of 3D design program. It took several iterations to scale the design to be printed. This print is about 75 mm across and took almost 7 hours to finish. Instructions I used ReplicatorG on a MakerBot Replicator2 with the Replicator 2 slicing defaults and the following settings with white MB PLA: Infill = 10% Layer Height = 0.200 Shells = 1 Feedrate = 40 Travel Feed = 55 Temperature = 220 I used a raft with full support in the orientation shown. Clean up wasn't too bad. The bottom of the "petals" needed a little work.
