My mom is into ceramics, and made what was originally a clock for a sister in law. She wanted to switch the clock from a clock to a sundial, and asked if I could make a gnomon for it. The intent wasn't for it to specifically work as a sundial because the base is set up for 12 hours of the day, but the idea was good, and it had a red/white/blue flower theme, so I figured I could make something that would work as a gnomon in idea, but be more artistic-ey than anything else.

I made it it fusion, but I am not so good with t-splines I discovered. They're not as easy as pure engineering CAD. I've, as always, added the fusion file if you wish to edit it yourself.

It's made from PETG, and I used a long (maybe 20mm) m2 bolt and a short (maybe 8mm) m2 bolt to attach the stem and trellis to the nut that holds it into the clock. I used epoxy to hold it together.

Thought it was a neat idea, maybe someone would use the flower for some other neat concept.

The supports on the leaves made a mess of that side so I had to sand it down. My leave veins did not come out so well. Also the flower has some “pimples” from where I made a rose petal and rotated and made it smaller as I brought it in, which also looks a little strange… but again, it's my lack of understanding of t-splines. I thought it was good enough and seemed to work well in the end.
