The printer is so tall I decided to try a horizontal spool holder design. It's designed around a hefty 6202-2RS bearing I happened to stash for an e-scooters steering column spare part. (I know this is a bit of a misuse of such bearing, but these things can handle a ton of load) Prints really need 100% infill and support. Fits to the original screw holes with the original screws. It's proven to work very very nicely so far, in fact I think it's better than one of those 4 bearing things. Update: Finally got to try it out with a brand new spool, no problems. The angle of the elliptical filament guiding ring keeps the filament tensioned upwards so it doesn't tend to drop and fall off the spool. Update: I've added an adapter for 70mm spools to make them easier to use. This can be printed with close to no infill.
