This lightly clamps the key down to seat new pads. Spread the clamp and move over the key and back of the flute body before releasing. You could put tape over the ends to cushion it or add more pressure. My flute measures about 24mm from the back of the body to the top of the keys when they are closed. The clamp is 22mm.
