Fly Trap for Mason Jar

Fly Trap for Mason Jar

This collection of parts can be assembled, along with a wide-mouth (88 mm rim) canning jar and metal band, to make a fly trap. You'll need to put bait of some kind in the jar to attract the flies, and a plastic bag liner helps keep things cleaner. To assemble, first secure the base portion of the trap to the jar by tightening on the metal band. Next, on the cover, press three of the clips into the three rectangular sockets. Finally, clip the pieces all together. This model was designed for a jar having an 88 mm rim. For other sizes, you'll need to scale the model proportionally. The bases of the clips were designed to fit snugly into the cover, but your results may vary. I had originally designed the cover and clips as one piece, but the clips were too fragile due to the direction of the layers. The renderings were created with Blender 2.82a.
