Student Virtual Prototyping Design Challenge The design is a rectangular snake folder holder capable of holding various books, notebooks, and paper between the folds. The model has circular holes on the smallest fold for writing utensils. The holes are going at a 15-degree angle. It will adequately hold many writing devices and has a detachable holder for more storage for other materials if needed. It can help students organize their necessary notes in a convenient simplistic style that could fit any student's room. The design can also allow it to be versatile in where the student chooses to put it by either on the table, side of the table, or even on the wall for decoration and shelf purposes if the student desires. The sleek design creates a multifaceted organizer suitable for any students learning area, allowing them to customize it for their own style. 1.What issues did you come up against? In designing the model, I did not have a proper way to develop it as all the CAD programs available for me were at school and could not be accessible at home. I adapted and was able to get Fusion360, which I was very unfamiliar with but got accustomed to the program's software. Once I finally figured out a way to use a program, I had issues with shape choices. I wanted the design to be put in any student's room but decided on rectangles because of the simple line work that could be customizable to any student. 2.If you could redesign this again, what would you change? If I could redesign my model again with the knowledge I know now, I would change the concrete foundation with a parametric cross pattern for more versatility by adding more writing utensils and adding-ons such as hooks. 3.How would 3D printing help strengthen your design? Through 3D printing, my design would encourage students to make it as it is mainly only one part with no real supports as it is one solid piece with an additional side piece if needed. The design is structurally sound since it has simple linework for the user's convenience and the 3D Printer.
