Folgertech FT5 Extruder Mount

This is an extruder mount for the Folgertech FT5. It is wider so it can accommodate motor connector pass throughs for removing the extruder without disassembling the extruder mount. The wire drag chain mount has been moved to the left so it does not interfere with the bearing mount screws. An integrated belt clamp was added and moved to better align with the drive pulley and eliminate the need for wire ties. A lower set of extruder motor mounting holes were added for a 4 screw attachment for better rigidity. The top and bottom plate through holes were eliminated and replaced with alignment blades and through holes for a lower overall profile and better support when tightening the clamping screws. The lower profile gives more clearance to the print bed so more room for the part cooling duct that I will be adding. One version has screw pockets for the extruder motor mounting screws and the other does not. The one without screw pockets requires longer screws. Parts are recessed on the inside and bottom for weight and reduced print material and time.To attach the drive belt just feed it into the opening on the side. When the belt comes out the back fold it over and push it back into the second opening. While applying pressure pull the belt back out which will pull the loop into the clamp. You know it's right when you see a little bit of the end of the belt sticking out the edge opening facing the toothed side of the belt. Print Settings Printer Brand: Robo 3D Printer: R1 ABS + PLA Model Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.3mm layers 0.6mm nozzel Infill: 100% Notes: After printing check the belt attachment clamps for proper bridging. If you have a sagging ceiling in the bridged area the belt will not fit properly. Either adjust your bridge settings and reprint or trim out the offending obstructions. How I Designed This Designed in Rhino3D I use Rhino3D for my design work. It might be a little pricy for some but I have found the software to be exceptionally capable for all kinds of design projects.
