Food Splitter for PetSafe Smart Feed Automatic Pet Feeder

This is a 2-way splitter for the Petsafe Smart Feed Automatic Feeder. It will allow you to use two separate bowls with the feeder to encourage sharing.

There is a printed part that can be bought for this purpose on Amazon, but I wanted to design my own and share it with the community.

I didn't test this with very large food, so it may or may not work with dog food. The inner width of the chute is 26mm, and I think there's enough clearance from the feeder that any food of that size or smaller shouldn't get wedged in the chute before the nozzle. Leave some feedback if there are issues with this, and I could potentially make a chute with a larger opening and a longer body to accommodate larger food.

In-case anyone wants to remix from the parametric model built in Fusion 360, it can be found here.

Assembly

After printing both pieces, simply push (gently but with some force) the base onto the chute.

After pushing the two pieces together, fit the rear lip of the base underneath the feeder, where the originally supplied bowl holder was.

Fitment Notes

Printing on my Prusa i3 MK3, I printed both of these parts at 100%. If you are having an issue with the base being too tight due to tolerance, possibly try bumping the size 1-2%. Don't go much larger than that or it won't fit properly in the feeder's bottom slot.

One other thing to mention, this part is not 100% perfect as far as fitment in the PetSafe Feeder. I've tried to get all the angles, spacing and curves as close as possible to match the feeder. That said, feel free to leave comments if you notice there are improvements that could be made. I'll happily modify the model and update it based on feedback.

Print instructions

Category: Pets Print Settings

Supports: No

Notes:

Print this part as the STLs are oriented. Supports should not be necessary unless your printer isreally bad at bridging. There probably will be some stringing in the top part of the chute from the bridging, but it should be able to be removed with some clippers or knife.

If you want to place supports to avoid this, only place them on the blue highlighted areas in the included picture.
