Ford Maverick Oil Drain & Filter Access Covers

Ford Maverick Oil Drain & Filter Access Covers

thingiverse

Underbody access covers for oil drain plug and filter on the Ford Maverick with 2.0L Ecoboost engine. These were designed to fit a 2022 XLT with FWD transmission but may also work for the 4K AWD version (... although definitely NOT the FX4 offroad package with metal skidplate). Eliminates the need for removing 15 screws holding the underbody splash panel in place when doing an oil change. However... in order to use these covers, access holes must first be cut in VERY SPECIFIC locations in the highly contoured factory underbody splash panel (i.e. no guarantees, proceed with caution, measure carefully, your results may vary, etc., etc.). The attached sketches show the size and location of access holes that worked in my case. Each cover is held in place by a tongue groove along one side and a simple quarter-turn latch bolt on the opposite side (1 latch set required for each cover). An additional 5/8" OD by 5/16" ID by 1/16" thick gasket ring made of soft rubber was also incorporated to provide some necessary compliance to the bolt locking assembly. A similar size "O-ring" would probably work as well. Note that PLA filament is not recommended since the covers are exposed to high temperatures developed in the engine compartment. The first set I made with the soft material is still functional but starting to show signs of warping after the first oil change. I think I'll be switching to PETG for my next set.
