Four Sided Awesome Disposable Utility Blade

Four Sided Awesome Disposable Utility Blade

I was getting tired of always having to change the blade in my utility knife. I thought to my self; wouldn't it be great if I could just print a disposable version that I could just chuck once the blade was dull? Now, I know what you're thinking; we have enough disposable goods in our society filling up our landfills and destroying the earth!!! I don't want to be labeled as some climate-change denying touch-hole that doesn't care about the environment so I decided I would make it eco-friendly by adding three more blades to it. This makes it last much longer and causes less waste!!!. Once all four blades are dull you can just throw it away without feeling so guilty! Speaking of throwing, my friends tell me that this thing looks a lot like some sort of throwing star. I don't see it, but to be on the safe side: please do not throw this thing at anybody... that would be über lame. Print Settings Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: Prusa I3 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 mm Infill: 20 - 25% or whatever Notes: Print the bottom.stl and top.stl files. Glue the blades into each printed piece with superglue or epoxy. Next glue the two halves together and clamp. Alternatively you can print it all as one piece using the full.stl file and insert the blades during the print. Two pauses will have to be inserted into the gcode. Slice the file at .2mm layer height. Find where the layer at 2mm ends and insert the following code; G91 ; Put in relative mode G1 Z10 ; Lower bed by 10mm G90 ; Put back in absolute mode G1 X0 Y0 ; Zero (home) the X & Y M0 Click to Restart ; Pause and wait for the user G91 ; Put in relative mode G1 Z-10 ; Raise the bed back up 10mm G90 ; Put back in absolute mode Then find where the layer at 2.8 mm ends and insert the same. It helps to cover the top side of the blades with Aqua Net so that the plastic will stick. Be careful when inserting the blades into the print if you have a heated bed, they get hot quick. I have included a gcode file that already has the pauses in it. It was created by Slic3r with a layer height of .2mm using a .4mm nozzle. Also the skirt and brim are turned on.
