FPV Gate - Vertical Double Gate (MultiGP Style)

Another design in my "low weight, little space, one person build" series. A big advantage of these "flimsy" gates is, that the gate as well as the drones don't suffer (most of the time) by impact damage due to the gradual force degeration on impact). They are not the cheapest but folded up the smallest and lightest I know of. Parts of this project can be reused for other gates as well (glass fibre rods, fabric, paracord). For building this project you'll need: - 14x M6x30mm (or longer) hex bolts and wing nuts - M2-M3 steel cable and a appropriate fixing piece (alternatively 3-4mm paracord, if the inner diameter of the glass fibre rods is big enough, you'll need some kind of tool to route it trough the rods). - Glass fibre rods (8,5mm diameter): 3x 1,5 meter (each consisting of 3 segments) 1x 4 meter (8 segments for the top arc) the rod assemblys need to have a connector piece on both ends. This piece clamps into the printed part. Usually you can buy those pieces seperately in camping accessorie stores or you can make yourself one or printing is also possible - About 20m Paracord rope (3-4mm) for fixating the gate - 4 sturdy pegs for attaching the paracord - some fabric for the rods for better visibility - 2x M8x200mm steel rods (any kind) going into the ground to place the gate on The printed parts was printed with PLA and will be pretty impact resistent (because of the pretty beefy design), but printing with semi rigid (Hard TPU), for sure will be tougher. The long term usage/test will show. So far the PLA printed pieces (if printed with many perimeters and lots of infill usually hold up pretty well, most of the time. One of the 1,5m glass fibre rods is connected with the steel wire (the horizontal one) to prevent the gate falling apart. The rest is connected with rubber cord as usual. Therefore all pieces can be folded to a quite compact format. Costs approximately: 2x glass fibre rod set consisting out of 10 pieces = 12€ each Filament = 10€ Steel wire/cable = 3€ Bolts/Nuts = 15€ Fabric = 10€ Paracord = 5€ Pegs = 5€ M8 steel rod = 5€ Assembling the gate takes 7-8 minutes for a single person, so with 2 or more people even faster. Disassembly only 4 minutes. How it works: The horizontal rod (with the steel wire inside) never gets disasembled completely only losened, so that the segments can be folged together for a compact storage package. The vertical side rods also are only collapsed by pulling the apart (elastic rope inside). The endpieces remain in the printed part all the time. After finishing the bottom assembly, spear it onto the M8 steel rods, which were hit into the ground before. Ater that wind down the gate with the paracord, so that the gates stand upright. To insert the longest rod (the upper arc) the wing nuts are losened a bit, so that the printed pieces can be pried apard a little bit, enough to insert the endpiece, afterwards the wing nuts are tightened again. Ready to race.
