Frank Lloyd Wright Freeman House Tile

Frank Lloyd Wright Freeman House Tile

Originally designed by Frank Lloyd Wright for the Freeman house built in California in 1923, where this pattern was used on concrete blocks. Concrete block offered cost savings and flexibility but were seen as an ugly and downmarket building material. Wright's vision was to use them in upscale residences with bold patterns that added character, hoping to have his block system used on a broad scale. Only 4 of these so called "textile block" houses were built. Check out my other textile block designs.
