FreeCAD parametric snap lid box - part design model

thingiverse

This is a parametric box with a snap-fit lid in FreeCAD using the part design methodology. It's a valuable tool if you're designing custom project boxes, as it simplifies the process of creating boxes so you can focus on adding features like pockets for switches and dials. To use this, make a copy of the freecad file and edit the copy. You'll find a spreadsheet with adjustable values. The light green ones are the most likely to need adjustments. The dark green ones are also adjustable but may be less significant. The yellow ones are calculated automatically. Change the values as needed to achieve the desired box design, then proceed with your project. Once you're satisfied, use mesh workbench to render STLs, export them, and print your custom box. Note: The fit of the lid in version 2 is a bit too tight. Version 2.1 adjusts the lid slightly and adds a parameter to the spreadsheet for better control.
