FreeTrack - OpenTrack - TrackIR LED holder

thingiverse

A simple DIY LED holder for head tracking, designed for 5mm LEDs. The first iteration (pictured) was designed with the option to mount LEDs on Dupont connectors so that they could be easily replaced. This, however, proved troublesome to wire and mount correctly so the final design switched to a more common "solder and glue" approach. The main shell and end cap can either be glued or joined by "friction welding" a piece of filament driven in the center through hole with a power drill. The end cap has a slot for glueing a 3 pin Dupont connector. This connector actually uses only 2 pins out of 3, placed so to avoid accidentally powering the LEDs circuit with reversed polarity if the connectors are plugged in the wrong orientation. The mount for the clip is the standard GoPro style mount, mounted to the cap/headset clip with a dovetail slide. This allows fast switching between differently sized clips. Tollerances for this joint are choosen for a well tuned MK3S. Different printers might require increased clearance. STEP/Fusion 360 files are included so that this thing can be customized at will.
