Like having room temperature (very spreadable) butter available all the time? Me too! However no one likes butter gone rancid or with off flavors. The French have a solution in an air tight sealed butter tub.that keeps your room temp butter fresh. Went looking online for one and found they ranged in price from $20. to $40 and up. This inspired my 3D printable version. My version costs about 100 grams of filament. Instructions Material: HIPS or other certified food safe filament. Raft & supports OFF Infill 20 to 30% If you choose to use the text label, I suggest printing it in a different color than the tub. Letters can be glued on using plastic model cement or ABS pipe cement. Spreader material HIPS or other food safe plastic. raft and supports off Set to High quality Infill 60% May need to lightly sand the top of the tapered end smooth. Place butter in the flanged tub, press in firmly with a spoon making sure butter is in full contact with the sides & bottom and has minimum air pockets. (keeps butter from falling out when tub is inverted) Place about 1/2 inch (13mm) of water in the outer cup. The water provides an air tight seal. Invert the inner flanged cup and place in the outer cup. Butter is now safe from air, and floating air borne microbes, It is best to use either distilled water or boiled & cooled water. Change the water every few days.
