Hey all, this is a miter box I created to cut the fret notches on my guitar I'm making. At first I had minor expectations for it as I didn't know how precise I could get it but after cutting it turned out amazing so I figured I'd upload it. Everything is printable on a small scale printer minus the base. I ran into a problem where after lifting it up the base was bowed inwards a bit. The model you see in the pictures is the old version of the base where I just screwed it straight down to some particle board and it straightened it right up. The new version of the base has countersunk screw holes all over to mount it to a 100% planed / flat board of your choice. If you didn't want to print the base I've also included the "Bracing Alt." and Bracing Alt. Mirror" pieces. These can be mounted straight to a flat surface without the need to print the bed (which I highly recommend, save yourself some filament people). And, as per usual me, I've included the entire SKP file for easy editing and improvement. Update 2/20/19: I finished cutting my ebony fretboard over the past weekend. If you're working with a softer wood like in the photos then you won't need a clamp system of any sort, just hand hold is fine. Ebony on the other hand...you'll wanna clamp this thing down. Other than that, it was a beautiful success. I still recommend instead of printing the base that you use the alternative pieces I provided and directly mount it to a board and use a square to make sure both sides are even. Doing that also gives you the freedom to space both sides however far apart you want instead of using the set width like I have on the printable base. The bearings acted as depth stops and kept the saw nice and straight while I was cutting which is what I was expecting out of this box.
