This model is part of an ongoing project to document “at risk” features at Heritage Sites in the Coconino Forest due to natural or vandalism related issues. The Van Deren Cabin is located in the Coconino Forest near Sedona Arizona. It was initially constructed in the late 1800s. After the Forest Service acquired the property substantial repairs were carried out with the help of Friends of the Forest volunteers. This model shows a roof corner detail with wall log separation, absence of mud crack filling, log breakage and minor insect damage and dry rot.
