FT-5 Simple Carriage

FT-5 Simple Carriage

thingiverse

This is a simple carriage for the Folgertech FT5 printer. Designed for the v1 printer, but I imagine it would work fine for the v2 as well. This is meant specifically for a Bondtech BMG extruder or clone, and turns the whole setup sideways. The mount that was included with the BMG extruder must be used as well, and largely cut out in the top, and slightly notched in the bottom to accommodate this mounting setup. This effectivly raisese the extruder, and actually gains some z height instead of loosing z height when upgrading to the BMG setup. It also keeps reduces the nozzle sway dramatically as it raises it up. Six m4x50 screws and nuts were used to mount everything, although you could get away with four. Any size extruder motor will clear the Y-axis rail on the right, although a pancake motor make the most sense for this setup. Minor notching on the X-axis mount was also needed to gain back all of the x travel. You will also benefit from moving the Y-axis cable chain behind the gantry.
