Fuel Door Spring

Fuel Door Spring

prusaprinters

When I bought my Mitsubishi lancer second hand about 3 yrs ago, I realized that the fuel door would not spring open when I pulled the fuel door lever. Upon further inspection and some googling, it turned out that there is a leaf spring attachment that was missing. The spring is made from a plastic clip with with a leaf spring attached (see photo below). The plastic clip is attached to the fuel door arm and the leaf spring is pressed between the arm and the car chassis.

I decided to try and replicate the missing spring from pictures of the original spring of which I found online and measurements of the area in the fuel door arm where the spring would be attached.

The results are quit nice and my fuel door swings open like a charm. I am curious if this spring would work in other cars, if you have succeeded to use this print on a different car please let me know!

This was printed on my mp select mini V2 using Polymaker Polylite PETG and sliced in Prusaslicer.

Happy printing.
