Hi, I just finished the rework of some kind of sump boat which I designed for my son.

It just started with a simple idea of having our Traxxas Blast boat modified a little bit but it ended with 26 parts for the boat itself, 9 parts for a bonding jig and at least 1 drilling part (driveshaft) as it was not possible having the original shaft supported in a way using propeller without bigger vibrations. I also designed a NACA-profile based propeller (30° twisting angle) because I wanted to try if it is possible having a RP-propeller made that works. The propeller seems to work good in some test runs but if you want to redo the print please pay attention: The original motor drives at high speed- if during vibrations etc.. the propeller breaks it can lead to injuries.

I had to rework the hull of the boat for getting the trim line 20mm higher and a higher bouyancy level. For the first model (as shown on the fotos) I arranged two batteries aside of the motor for balancing the COG but the model became to heavy. By designing higher walls it was no longer necessary for having two batteries aside of the motor as one batterie below the motor fits into the structure.

Of course: It is quite challanging having these big hull structures print in a Prusa Mini+. But printing most of these parts in a diagonal/standing position worked. I am not that much experienced in finding perfect printing setups. Maybe someone can support in this topic. All I have to say is because of the long printing times I had to decrease the temperature of the plate down to miniumum after the first layers. In normal setup the material starts to flow on the plate. For some parts (propeller housing and the flaps) I designed my own support structure that can be cut out quite easy.

I also had a try with the PC-CF20 material without any housing of my printer but as the temperature range is quite close to the limit of the Mini+ the results where unsufficient. After bulding a proper housing for my printer the results looking great.

Please have a look on the drawing (PDF) first for having a overview of the full project before preheating the nozzle ;)

I wish you the best of luck
