I wanted this printable on my M3D Micro and so decided to celebrate it being in multiple parts. I suggest you do too – give the parts contrasting colours and make it pop! Sits happily without glue, although you may wish to glue it together. With the standard axle this holds a spool of max 7cm depth, 20cm diameter (or a little more). The extended axle allows for spools of max 9cm depth. And thank you to Raab6 for creating alternative axles to fit three different spools: FormFutura axle: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:863095 Material4Print.de axle: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1387834 Hatchbox spools: axle: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1219216 Instructions I printed these upright in the default orientation for the STL files I've supplied – this was on an M3D Micro which produces a rough surface where the print touches the raft. If you are printing onto a smooth surface then you may well be better off printing part 01, 02 and 03 on their side. Print part 01, 02 and 03 twice, plus one axle – typically Axle.stl. Printed in their default orientation: Part01 needs to be printed with support (for the li'l' horizontal tab) Part02 needs no support Part03 MUST NOT have support, and should be printed as supplied (upside-down!) to preserve the funky curve and ensure it matches the other curves nicely. If you print them flat then parts 01 and 02 will need support switched on for the tabs. If you would like to print more in one go then I have supplied versions of the three main parts doubled-up, so you need print only one of each. The chances of a print failure are higher, but it's up to you. For those with printers capable of 120mm of height or more there's an extended axle should you need it, and for people who need the extended axle but can't print that high (M3D Micro owners for example), there's a special slim extended axle that fits diagonally on a 100mm square (or more) print bed. For the slim extended axle I suggest you print the scaffolded version without support switched on, but if you wish to have your slicer provide the support then there's an un-scaffolded version of the slim extended axle available too. I know TL;DR ;-)
