Fully Automated 3D scanner

Fully Automated 3D scanner

thingiverse

This is the first revision of my fully automated 3D scanner. It was constructed with spare 3D printer parts I had laying around at the time. I'm currently working on a better one that is more modular features a laser array, range finder and duel cameras capable of better depth estimation. This current model was a very crude device I whipped together years ago to see if I could fully automate moving the camera around on a given path. The software I created for it allows the user to set a path for the camera to scan over an object and upload the results to a designated shared server space. The information can the be freely shared among designated users to allow teams of people to share their scans quickly and easily. The scanner itself leaves detailed information not only on the website but also in the meta data of the image. This makes creating point cloud maps that have more uniform camera distance information.
