NOTE: The Mars 2 does not have venting on the bottom. This will not work with the Mars 2 or Mars 2 Pro. It is unlikely to work as-is with anything other than the original Mars and Mars Pro. STORY: She Who Must Be Obeyed did not appreciate the odor, even though there was acceptable ventilation. In order to maintain household happiness, I endeavored to find a fume extraction system. In my searching, I only found solutions that require modification to the printer housing, or did not promise much actual fume extraction. It wasn't until I had already started my own design that I found some viable alternatives. But, since I had already ordered a fan, and was almost done with my design, I persisted. In the end, I have a fume extractor that does not change the air flow dynamics of the printer, requires no modification to the printer that is not easily reversible, and has been doing a great job at keeping the odor to a minimum (so far). With some 3" flexible ventilation hose, and a 120mm fan of some kind, you should be able to print this, set your printer on it, and the fan in a window, and continue to lead the happy life you wanted with your happy wife. I've included the STEP file so you can make easy modifications. I appreciate if you post a remix, if you do any mods. The photos should be as follows: 1. Completed Fume Extraction System. 2. Main body of fume extractor, the base that the printer sits on, shown upside-down. It should be printed as provided and fits on a Prusa bed. 3. Super Lube (or similar grease) helps get tight printed threads to work more easily. Try it! 4. Feet installed (with leveling foot adapters installed) 5. Right side up, with feet installed 6. get a long enough zip tie, or use multiple zip ties that can go around the hose adapter. 7. Thread on the vent hose, and secure with zip tie 8. Lots of hose. We'll cut to size during installation. 9. Fan adapter printed 10. Fan mounted to window insert (made from coroplast I had on hand) with a little window gasket to help. 11. Outside of insert showing fan output 12. Adapter mounted to fan and window insert. 13. Window insert installed 14. Estimate needed hose length. Cut, and install onto fan adapter with another zip tie(s). 15. base in place... almost ready! 16. Stuff in your favorite activated carbon filter material. 17. Place Elegoo Mars on base. It should just sit right in (see first photo) 18. The hose can bend a lot, but don't pinch or kink it! 19. My resin printing corner of the room.
