Fursuit/Cosplay Standing Tail Base

Fursuit/Cosplay Standing Tail Base

I needed to make a quick tail for a werewolf costume and wanted it to stick outward instead of hanging down, so I designed this easy to print and use tail base! It has a hole to insert wire, and a slot to insert your belt. A tight non stretchy belt is recommended. I ended up with an elastic belt on Halloween but it still worked great. Directions: Print tail base Cut 4 pieces of 55gauge wire (can be bought at Walmart, Home Depot, etc.) to your tail length plus an extra 3". Tape all four pieces of wire together on one side. Insert that side into a power drill and tighten the drill. CAREFULLY use the drill to tightly twist the four pieces of wire together all the way through. Insert the wire through the top (tube shaped) hole on the tail base, through the bottom hole and then up through the top hole again. Squeeze as much hot glue (or any other glue you'd prefer, epoxy, e6000, etc.) into the hole as you can. Now you can lightly stuff your tail (tight or heavy stuffing might cause it to be too heavy) and slide it over the wire. Be sure the tube shaped hole on the tail base is pointed upward. That is the upper side of your tail. Glue the tail along the upper edges of the tail base. Be careful not to glue over or block the belt slots. Once assembled you will have a standing, poseable tail!
