Fusion Core Stand/Base

Fusion Core Stand/Base

thingiverse

Is your fusion core toppling over at the slightest provocation? Are you tired of leaving said fusion core lying on its side like a sucker to avoid fighting the ceaseless affliction that is gravity? Perhaps you simply long for an accessory to hold it tightly at night, but don't have the space for a suit of power armor or a generator. Well, you're in luck! This does indeed do all of that (hold a fusion core) and more (looks cool too)! 1st things 1st, OK, this is my 1st design for 3D printing, and my 1st 3D computer model (I'm a super newbie at this), so if there are issues, please let me know in the comments (or however else one does that) and I'll see what I can do. PRINTING Both pieces were printed to 75% scale of the file size, but the core is TIGHT, as in "will not fit with paint" tight, or "thought I was going to break it pulling it out" tight. Thought I factored in some wiggle room in the design, but would recommend printing this a couple percent or so larger than the scale of the core if you don't want the core and base to become one with each other. If they are to be permanently joined, both at 75% is perfect, and with a touch of any kind of glue they will never part. With the core printed at 72.5%, there's a little more wiggle-room than I'd like, so 73.5-74% may be the ticket. UPDATE: 13FEB2022 With the base at 75% and the new core ( https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5244590 ) at 72.5% scale, there is now some wiggle room for the core, as seen in the new pic. I kind of wish I had printed at 73.5%, maybe 74%, but such is life. The prints shown in the pics were printed on a TronXY X1 with the stand using 0.2mm layer height, 20% infill, 50mm/s print speed, and tree supports for the inside of the rim (Cura quoted a total print time of 15hr, but it ended up printing in ~12 to 12 1/2). I'm not super happy with the finish, but I'm going to sand and paint it anyway (will post pics later). The bottom fusion core piece was done at 60mm/s print speed. The cavity in the stand is based off of this design ( https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2053627 ), hence the remix attribution. That said, there's also this remix ( https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5244590 ) based off of those files, but with some added features to make it easier to assemble and the option of a threaded cap for use as a container. I saw a couple different stands for fusion cores online, those (heavily) inspired the overall aesthetic. Mayhap I'll make a different design at some point. Enjoy!
