Flight video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G9AawZxe_DU The Flybear FX707 is a large, reasonably priced, EPO free-flight glider. I bought two; one for the kids and one for an RC conversion project. The STL files are for the motor mount and pylon. The motor used is a 1704 size motor that I 'borrowed' from a quadcopter drone, with a 5030 3 blade prop. Very simple RC conversion. Uses 2x 9g servos and some depron foam for rudder and elevator. Note that polyhedral has been provided to the wings by scoring the top of each bend, filling with hot-glue and then bending up to provide a steeper angle. Do each one at a time. Each join has been fibre taped and the entire wing has also been fibre taped on the leading edge and the top and bottom. This polyhedral is necessary to allow rudder/elevator control. Pylon fin and mount are epoxied together. Cut a slit in the fuselage, on the centre-line behind the cockpit to accommodate the fin. Position the fin with less downthrust than I have done with mine. If I do this again I would try for a more straight thrust line as some down-pitch has been experienced on high throttle. Battery is a 2 cell 1000mAh lipo. With the canopy and fuselage front hollowed out to accommodate receiver and battery, the CoG matches the original free-flight position (which is suprisingly far back, but flies very well). Total flying weight: 284g.
