G Stand for iPhone 4, 4s, & 5

This iPhone stand is designed to let you view notifications on your desk or nightstand. The front of the stand features a parabolic sound port that directs sound from the iPhone speakers to the listener. This sound port reflector preserves sound fidelity and high end frequencies. This dock also has a cutout in the back to allow the use of the USB charging cable while the phone is on display. Additionally the phone can be rotated 90-degrees in the stand for movie mode. This stand will accommodate nearly any iPhone or iPhone case. I have tested with the Commander, Otterbox, and gear case. The slot is recessed to fit a case-less iPhone as well. You can also purchase this stand from Shapeways: https://www.shapeways.com/model/1657614/ I am going to optimize it for printing cost at Shapeways and see if I can get the price down. Future Plans: Add a cutout for rubber feet on the bottom. I just purchased some small oval shaped rubber feet to test. Make the angle adjustable. This angle is great for display purposes (like on the night stand) and watching movies but not ergonomic for tapping away on the screen. Please send me your comments and feedback if you print one. This is my first THING on THINGIVERSE and I would like to hear from you. Instructions There are two .stl files, one with a tab at the top of the G and one without. The tab (or circular pad) should be on your first layer and touch the build platform if using ABS plastic. Typically this is a 2.5 hour print job and as the plastic cools the tip/top of the G will detach from the table. The tab or pad decreases the chances of this happening. Just cut it off with an razor knife at the end. See the photo for how to orient it for printing. To print this on a Makerbot, put this on the table so that your see the G-shape from the top view, turn on supports and go. To save time on this make your layer height .3mm. Also, be careful when removing the supports where the phone sits or you will crack the front of the part.
