Logitech G29 quick-release mod for interchangeable wheel rims. This is a non-destructive mod (you're able to return your G29 to its original state) but modify your wheelbase at your own risk, it will definitely void your wheels warranty. There are a number of teardown videos on youtube that show the process of disassembling the wheel and removing it from the wheelbase. This has only been tested with a G29 so I'm unsure how strong it'll be if used with higher force feedback wheel bases. The quick-release system uses a locking pin system to secure a wheel to the steering column of the wheelbase. The locking pins are set by moving a guide ring up or down allowing the pins to move in and out of position. The guide ring has magnets to ensure that it stays in the locked position when in use. I've included the rim mounting piece that I use for two of my wheels as an example or as something you can use with your designs. There are 2 versions of the wheel rim mounting piece, a one-piece version and a two-piece version. The one-piece version is simpler to print but I have had this version fail after a lot of use (around 4 months) due to the rotational force shearing one print layer away from another. The two-piece version is in-theory stronger than the other version (it's not been tested for the same length of time as the other version, I will make sure to update). This is when the shaft piece is printed on its' side and therefore the layers can't be sheared away from each other under rotational load. The mounting block and the shaft will have to be glued together though. Materials: - 3mm x 3mm x 3mm cube magnets - M4 20mm screws x 6 - M4 Nuts x 6
