This is a model of a gaffi stick as carried by the tusken raiders in various Star Wars films. The dimensions are loosely based on a genuine totokia from Fiji that's part of my collection at home. It's not a precise replica of any specific gaffi stick, but a general representation of them. The file set is intended to be pretty modular. In particular, you can print more/less of the totokia-segment piece to scale it to yourself. There are parts for smaller printers (totokia-segment) and larger (totokia-segment-long). In addition to the printed parts you will need 2 4' wooden dowels: - 3/4 for the wood parts - 1/2 for the mace The mace fits into the totokia end, so make sure to allow for that when assembling (your 3/4 dowel should be recessed 3" or so from the end of the totokia to allow it to fit in. I suggest a dry fit (no glue!) to test it all out. My recommendation is to print it as follows: Totokia ===== Wood-filled filament (I've tried hatchbox and xyltech, both worked well) - 1x totokia-pineapple-1 - 1x totokia-pineapple-2 - 1x totokia-bend - 1x totokia-transition And then either: - 6x totokia-segment - 1x totokia-end Or: - 2x totokia-segment-long - 1x totokia-end-long I printed these at 0.2mm layer height, 3 perimeters, 4 tops, 4 bottoms and 15% infill. To finish, I glued them all together with the dowel in the core, then sanded them thoroughly the long way with relatively coarse paper (80 grit) to get a nice wood grain effect, then smoothed it a bit with 220 grit. I then stained it with ebony wood stain. 2 coats and it looked nice. Both the hatchbox and zyltech PLA took the stain really well. When assembling, remember that the mace fits into the totokia, so you need to leave a 3" or so gap between the start of the dowel and the totokia end. Mace ==== I used black PLA for this. Silver would make sense but I didn't have any on hand. Either print one each of: - mace-1 - mace-2 - mace-3 - mace-spike Or print one each of: - mace-long - mace-3 - mace-spike I used the same print settings for the mace as above. For the spike, I printed mine *solid*. This is going to get hit on things and will break! I also didn't glue mine into place. It's just press fit, so that if I break it I can make a new one easily.
