Galaxy Defenders Insert

This is an insert for the cards and tokens for the board game Galaxy Defenders. One thing to note is that this requires a larger than average 3D printer surface since some parts are quite large. They could possibly be split but since I did not need to I did not do this. I use a CR-10S with a 300x300 base. It was very obvious that this game could never be incorporated into a single box - just the tiles and the rules take up half a box by themselves - so my goal was to get it down to two boxes as well as organize it for faster setup and utility. In the first box I put all the large map tiles first, then at one edge I put in all the power armour tiles as well as the oddly shaped terrain tiles. The larger sector tiles I put on top (or under) all the map tiles. The 3D doors and windows while a neat idea just got in the way of the gameplay in the end so are excluded. In the remaining room I placed all the miniatures. I didn't even try to 3D model anything because of the sheer size of the base plate so I cut it out of foamcore, but it could just as well just have been the minis sorted into bags instead. The tray is sized at 240x397x56mm externally. If you do paint your minis I highly advise you to also spray them with satin varnish (or clear + matt) or the paint will rub off with such rough handling. The second box starts with a large box for all the cards along one short edge. I have sleeved all my cards with premium 100-micron sleeves which makes them take up all the space so I made some printed and laminated dividers. The width of the card box is such that the manuals fit in neatly next to it length-wise. After setup the card box can be returned to the box if removed. The way I sorted the encounter cards was first regular before hazard then OS before EP. The card box did not go all the way to the top so I made a tray for the smaller chits used during setup, after setup this can also be returned to the box. It also contains Sally and the tokens for some character and boss powers. Measuring the thickness of the stack of rulebooks I made a section next to them to fill out the layer, in this case I decided to put the one-hex tiles used during setup there. A bit of an over-kill but not much else fit in this space. This left a large rectangular area left to fit everything else into. I tried a few different ways but finally settled for having all the hexes in a single tray laying on their side. That way I could make dividers for those as well and sort them and make it easier to pick things out. You can browse through the individual sections without removing them from the tray by flipping them back and forth. I organized the hexes as pictured in the image, unavailable tiles are those that are from later expansions or in the case of KS exclusives too silly to play with. Locked tiles are those that have not yet been researched. There are not enough hexes (even with the KS exclusives) to fill this tray so I put in a rolled up bag for drawing the locked tiles with and if you have to draw a random generic device then you can just remove all those and pick one at random any way you prefer. The special devices used in missions are separated and I also put the Nano Armor and GD Captain abilities there. In the space left in front I placed the skills and weapons used by the current team in the campaign to speed up setup, just take those out and place them accordingly. A better solution might be to have a separate compartment per player but it didn't really fit. As for the tokens used during the game I wanted them to be easily accessible so I split the regular tokens up into two identical setups and then a third tray for the more esoteric tokens that one player can manage. These three stack onto eachother in the box. The agent tiles fit neatly in the space left on the bottom so I made a simple holder that keeps them in one place in the box. I do have all the agents including the KS ones (but missing Simonia since that hasn't been released yet) but there is still some room to grow here. On top of the hexes tray I now had some space left to fit in the rest so I made a combined tray to keep all the two-hex terrain at an angle as well as the player tactics (unavailable and available sorted seperately), the position tiles and all the dice. The 3D-printed parts are all up on Thingiverse here. Let me know if you try them and have any adjustments you want made. I do not have all the KS-exclusive content but I think it should still fit. The hex dividers I did in draw.io, files are here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1NUSwdagyJlBomh9QReTSO41uoLZxKFEU/view?usp=sharing The card dividers I did on google docs here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ayT0I1YiQKMRQ0nnIuNtP3tUsNW0l0mT0J8-2eg25N0/edit?usp=sharing
