This design is based on Walnetto's Brita / sink sprayer adapter which allows filling a 5 gallon jug with filtered water from a kitchen sink spray handle. "TheNozzle.stl" is unchanged from that design. "TheFlange.stl" is modified to add a cap with threads that match a US standard gallon milk jug. Fill the milk jug with the liquid you want to filter, insert a Brita filter into the nozzle and screw it together with the modified flange, then screw the flange tightly onto the milk jug. Invert the whole assembly, and whatever was in the jug drains out the bottom through the filter.

I use this for filtering alcohol used for washing resin prints. Run the wash machine's agitator for a minute to suspend any resin solids, funnel the contents into a milk jug, put everything together, and let the filter drain back into the original wash machine tank. This approach combined with using a dirty/clean two step wash has allowed me to use the same tank of "dirty" (first wash) IPA for several months, filtering it every few prints, depending on how much resin they had clinging to them. Between that and topping off the dirty tank with demoted "clean" tank IPA, then topping off the clean tank with fresh IPA, my prints have been coming out nice & clean, and more of my alcohol budget can be diverted to the more delicious variety instead of being used to clean prints.

I printed with PLA since my big/fast printer is filament. No supports needed. There's no reason this couldn't be printed in resin instead. The flange and the threads at least of the nozzle should be printed at 0.2mm or lower layer height. If you want to use adaptive layer heights, the rest of the nozzle could be printed at 0.3mm without a problem.

The original flange is included for completeness, but you only need to print TheNozzle and TheMilkFlange to use with a milk jug.

Original design is published under CC-BY-NC-SA. Modifications are published under under CC-BY-NC-SA 4.0.

Contact zac@thebedells.org or follow @Pendorbound on Twitter.
