Garage door sensor hood

My garage door has a light beam sensor safety feature to prevent closing on an object. At certain early morning hours beginning in late spring, sunlight can overwhelm one of the sensors. This usually happens when my girlfriend is leaving for work early in the morning, so I need to get out of bed to close it manually. Necessity is the mother of invention. I have a Printrbot Plus (with Super-Z!) so the fix I decided on was to print a tubular sun hood to prevent this from happening in the future. A quick measurement with digital calipers (an investment that seems wiser every day) read the outer diameter as ~11.23mm, which is more likely to be 7/8”, but whatever. Anyway, I have no idea if this will be useful to anyone but me, but here it is. Enjoy! UPDATE: Per request, I have updated this thing to be for a 23mm inner diameter. I use FreeCAD this time--much better tool, in my opinion. I haven't use Sketchup since I got addicted to FreeCAD. You can download FreeCAD here: https://freecadweb.org/ Instructions Print it out. Put it onto your garage door sensor. Enjoy more sleep.
