Garmin Edge Vertical Bike Mount

Garmin Edge Vertical Bike Mount

thingiverse

This is a vertical bike mount for a Garmin Edge. I created this at the request of my father so that he can mount his GPS on the vertical section of his handlebar, which has a diameter of ~28 mm (apparently all of the other real estate is taken up by other gadgets and gizmos!). In addition to the two parts on this page, you will need two part's from Andiwu's bike mount (see "remixed from" link), some zip ties, a 5M machine screw that is at least 25 mm long, a 5M hex nut, and some glue/epoxy. The parts printed fine without supports, but did require some trimming. Please note, this is version 2 of these parts, which have been tweaked to make the area around the bolt hole more sturdy. These parts have been field tested and work well, but you may need to use some tape or a rubber band between the mount and your bicycle bar so that the mount does not spin around on the bar. Instructions Step 1: Print both parts from this page. Step 2: Print the ring and flat latching piece from andiwu's page. You can get to his stl's easy if you click on the "Remixed from" link. The part names are "halter_innen" and "halter_aussen." Step 3: Trim the mating surfaces between the two parts printed from this page so that you can interlock them and line up the bolt holes. Step 4: Insert 5M (25 mm min length) machine screw and nut into the recessed wells. Depending on the clearances your printer produces, you may need to use a hot soldering iron to push the hex nut into its well. Step 5: Insert the flat piece from andiwu's page into the slot in the ring with the raised bumps facing up (trim to fit as necessary). Step 6: Epoxy/glue andiwu's ring onto the raised circle on my part. Step 7: Insert zip ties (max crossection 7 mm wide by 2 mm thick) into the built in zip tie tunnels and attach to a vertical section of your bike. Step 8: Attach your GPS and enjoy (and please provide feedback!)
