This case weighs about half of what the waterproof case weighs. I use it under the visor of my full face helmet, on a chesty and mounted to my mountain bike. The camera has never come loose in my testing and I've had a few big wrecks with this case on. All lights, buttons, mics, ports, etc are accessible through the mount so you don't need to take it off except to take the sd card or battery out. Putting the case on and taking it off will likely put small scuffs on your Garmin Virb so if you care a lot about the finish of your camera you may not want to use this case. It was designed with fairly tight tolerances to keep it in place without the use of external hardware. Update: I just added a little bit of protection around the lens. Be careful when putting the virb in the mount as the protection ring is very close to the lens and may rub the glass.
