Gas Cap Replaces Briggs & Stratton 596250

I have a 21" Murray Lawnmower that I bought at Walmart. It uses a Briggs & Stratton 450e engine on it. Every time I mow around the lilac bushes the cap got spun off. Normally I'd catch it and fix it but one day I didn't notice until I ran over it on a subsequent pass, destroying the thing. This engine uses two different style gas tanks and thus, two different gas caps that are NOT interchangeable. The style I have is the newer, but rarer style. After ordering a replacement from B&S and waiting weeks only to discover that it must be on back order (They acknowledged my order but have NOT shipped OR charged me for it yet), I broke down and just designed my own darn cap. I put some cork in there to form a nice seal. Gasket material would have been better, but I didn't have any. I'm not a Briggs & Stratton expert, so don't ask me if this will fit your mower. Mine had a cap that used a little tether that went inside the gas tank (I included the tether in one of the photos). If your gas cap is similar it might work. If your gas cap is a B&S part number 596250 then this should work fine.
