This is a remix of https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:20429 but the interface to link them isn't working. This cap will allow you to siphon up water and pre-filter it so you can collect water without getting your hands wet and then treat it/filter it. DO NOT USE THIS AS YOUR ONLY WATER TREATMENT METHOD. Tested on Gatorade and Powerade bottles. You can see it in action here (and the song it inspired - thanks Ben!): https://youtu.be/rtOJ3aDn6Z8?t=623 In addition to a 3d printer and a bottle you will need a re-usable coffee filter. I used this one: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Schroeder-Tremayne-Reusable-Coffee-Filter/158277526 Make sure it has uninterrupted filter fabric for a 28mm circle. Print the two files (Gatorade bottle filter cap.stl and Gatorade bottle filter screen holder.stl) solid. I used glow-in-the-dark PLA for fun. They eventually cracked over a 20 day trip but I brought spares as they weigh next to nothing and a coffee filter gives you enough material for at least 6. Use the filter screen holder to trace a circle onto the filter fabric and cut it out. Then use superglue to glue them all together – trap the screen fabric between the screen holder and the bottom of the cap. Line up the cross so you get more spots to glue and to support the fabric as water gets sucked/squeezed through it. We found it worked best if you siphoned up water, then squeezed out a bit to clear the screen before siphoning some more or putting it in your water bladder/bottle for treatment. Otherwise you are just going to spray all the crud from the filter into your water bladder/bottle. All demonstrated in the video above.
