GDEMU Remote SD Card Mount with Fan

thingiverse

This is a remix from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:398515 Since the GDEMU doesn't draw power from the 12v rail in the Dreamcast, sometimes this causes the 12v regulator to heat up. This mod adds a spot for a 40mm Noctua 12V fan, which both adds a current draw on the 12v rail, and adds additional cooling. You will need to print both the "bracket" and "mount" parts. One of the mount parts adds holes which might help direct airflow onto the power supply itself (I have not tested this one yet). During testing, I measured that the addition of this fan dropped the temperature around the 12v regulator from 51C to 39C. To attach the fan, you'll need to solder it to the GDEMU itself. The red wire goes to the 12v pin on the 50-pin Molex connector, and the black wire (ground) goes to any ground on the board, but the easiest is the '-' leg on the capacitor shown in the pictures. In the unit shown, I configured the fan to exhaust. Since the normal Dreamcast case fan is also configured for exhaust, I wasn't sure how this would work, but it seems to be fine. Thanks to collingall for the great design!
