This design is for the GE jet engine bracket challenge. It is very lightweight, achieving 89.6% weight reduction compared to the original bracket. It is designed to be two separate pieces, relying on the mating parts to hold it in the position shown. It has a hollow skeletal structure connecting the pin interfaces with the bolt interfaces, with one cross-member per side for rigidity. The hollow cavities continue into the bolt interfaces to allow unwanted material to be removed. The two cross-members have drain holes in either side as well. The cross-sectional area remains relatively constant, although the shape changes from a solid rectangle to a hollow cylinder to improve rigidity without exceeding the space envelope.
