**This is a gear bucket system for the 8" round hatches found on Hobie kayaks and boats.** * There are various tray configurations and sizes to organize your tackle / gear / accessories. * The bucket will print on a 25cm x 20cm build plate (Prusa i3). --- STEP 1 ====== CHOOSE A BUCKET TYPE ---------------- **OPTION 1: Solid wall** Bucket has solid walls like the stock bucket. OR **OPTION 2: Perforated wall** Bucket wall is full of holes to reduce material and weight. --- STEP 2 ====== CHOOSE A BUCKET PRINT METHOD ---------------------------------- **OPTION 1: Print as 2 separate pieces** Print the 2 parts in opposite orientation to eliminate the need for print supports. * Bucket_solid_top.stl + Bucket_solid_bottom.stl or * Bucket_lite_top.stl + Bucket_lite_bottom.stl **OPTION 2: Print as one single piece** Print the bucket in one single piece. Requires supports. * Bucket_solid_one-piece.stl or * Bucket_lite_one-piece.stl --- STEP 3 ====== ASSEMBLE BUCKET ----------------------------- * If you printed the bucket in 2 separate pieces, assemble them now. * The bottom will fit snugly into the top part. * Use glue to bond the parts together. The type of glue will depend on the material you are using. * If you printed the bucket as 1 single piece, simply remove the supports and you're done. --- STEP 4 ====== PRINT TRAYS -------------------- Choose and print the trays you want to use. There are several different configurations at several sizes. You can stack 3 _short_ trays, 2 _half_ trays or 1 _tall_ tray. --- Notes: ------- * I use PETG. It has decent **heat tolerance** and is pretty **strong**. Nylon/ABS or carbon fiber reinforced filament would be better options if you can print them. * **Print the bucket at 100% infill**. You want it to be as strong as possible. I suspect the lip of the bucket is going to be the weakest point / first point of failure, so use a bit more material here to get more strength. * There is ample surface area to bond the bucket bottom to the top. It's a snug fit. If you use the correct glue, that **bond will be strong**. * If you want to print a **shorter bucket**, cut the top off the _Bucket top_ part in your slicer (or cancel the print at the desired height). You can similarly **shorten trays** in your slicer if you need to.
